Case Background
Mrs. Sujatha and Mr. Venkatachalam, had a baby boy on the 17th
of March, 2011 at the Dharumapuri Government Hospital. Mr. Sathish works as a
casual laborer and earns about INR 4500 a month. He is sole bread winner of the
family. Soon after delivery, the child was shifted from the labor ward to the
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for infection and breathing related issues. The
child was put under incubation but still there was no improvement in his
health.
Ekam’s Involvement
The child’s consultant physician referred the case to Ekam.
We immediately shifted the child to Pranav Hospital, Salem, where he remained
under ventilator care for the next 20 days.
The total hospitalization cost of INR 44340 was borne by Ekam Emergency
fund.
Current Status
The boy is
now healthy and is living happily with his family.
